I am currently packing my bag for Tokyo. I have no idea what to expect. But if you’re out at TGS and see me, please say hello.
So, today I was going to talk about remakes, but then something unexpected happened. Sony walked away from Kojima’s Metal Gear successor and the legendary creator jumped all-in with Xbox.
And I just had to talk about that instead.

The surprise news last week, in what was a very busy week for video game stories, is that Sony is no-longer publishing Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid successor Physint.
The company told Kojima in mid-June it was cancelling the project, so Kojima sought a new partner and found one in Xbox, The Microsoft firm will now be publishing the title and collaborating with Kojima Productions across film and TV projects. Xbox was already publishing another Kojima game in the form of horror title OD, which will inevitably help with those NDAs.
