Diablo V Announced for Spring 2029, Sanctuary Has Fallen

During BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard took to the stage to announce the latest title in its long-running Diablo series, Diablo V. The announcement also confirmed that the Lord of Terror will return when Diablo V launches in spring 2029.

This time, however, players will be entering a Sanctuary that has already lost its war against Diablo. The heroes are gone, Sanctuary has fallen, and Diablo has won. Instead of fighting to prevent the Lord of Terror from conquering the world, players will have to survive in one that is already under his control. Yes. After multiple games and spin-offs, Diablo has won and we were powerless against him.

There will be no towns or safe places waiting to protect players, dramatically changing how they approach survival. Players will have to decide which powers they are willing to claim, along with what they are prepared to sacrifice while fighting their way through this fallen version of Sanctuary.

At the heart of Diablo V is one unsettling question: What must you become when the world has already fallen? That question appears to be central to the game’s story, its classes, and how players develop their characters throughout the experience.

Blizzard has revealed a 2029 release date, however, has not mentioned which platforms the game will be released for, outside of the PC that is.

However, Blizzard will reveal more during its Diablo V: Forging the Next Era panel, where the development team will provide a closer look at the fallen Sanctuary it is building. That panel will also explore how Blizzard is evolving the world, classes, and story as Diablo enters its next era after 30 years of walking through the darkness.
