Digital Extremes Lays Out Fall Plans For Warframe And Soulframe

Digital Extremes is apparently not interested in letting its players have a quiet fall. During a special Devstream held in Seoul as part of the studio’s TennoVIP community event, the developer laid out what’s coming to both Warframe and Soulframe over the next few months, with Warframe in particular building toward its next major destination, Tau.

First up is Warframe: Iceblade of Narin, arriving free on all platforms September 23. The update introduces Narin, the 66th Warframe and the game’s first female ice frame, who brings a combat kit built around crowd control and cold-based abilities. She also comes equipped with the Nunchasa bow and Aksondol dual ice pistols.

The update is doing considerably more than adding another frame to the ever-growing roster. Players will return to the Zariman shipwreck and discover Narin’s Crest, a new Relay Hub located on Yuvan Peak. There is also Glacial Defiance, a new six-player mission format that adds additional challenges to existing mission levels before sending successful squads to Melica’s Labroom for their rewards. Opening the lab also introduces Entropic Eximus enemies and their Entropic Kuva resource.

Then things get considerably bigger.

On October 15, Epoch Operation: Taubound will bring the Warframe community together for a massive, time-limited event designed to prepare the way for Warframe: Tau. Players will gather Moonflesh, which is used to fuel the journey toward the distant Tau system. Veterans can access the Prologue to Tau mini-Quest after completing The Hex and The Old Peace, while newer players can still participate in the community event and earn exclusive rewards after completing Vor’s Prize.

September 23 will also bring Citrine Prime Access, a Banshee rework, new Deluxe cosmetics, TennoGen items, and Warframe‘s arrival on the Samsung Galaxy Store.

Meanwhile, Soulframe is still in its early Alpha playtest, but Preludes 16: Of Hook & Hound is already starting to look like a proper expansion of the game’s sandbox. Arriving in mid-September, the update adds fishing, dynamic weather, new weapons and cosmetics, and wolf cub bonding. Players who complete The Shewolf Snared Fable can raise a wolf companion that will eventually fight alongside them and later become a mount.

Preludes 16 also changes how Tempers work, allowing players to dismantle weapons to reclaim them and use those resources to retune eligible Legendary weapons with Tuvalkane.
