Mega Man X Is Getting a New Physical Switch Release With All 8 Games

Limited Run Games has announced a new physical Nintendo Switch release of Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2, featuring Mega Man X5, X6, X7, and X8. Pre-orders open November 12, with three editions available, including a Double Pack containing all eight mainline Mega Man X games across two cartridges.

The four games were previously released digitally on Nintendo Switch in 2018. This new physical release gives collectors another opportunity to own the second half of the Mega Man X series on cartridge.

The Standard Edition includes Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2, while the Double Pack Edition combines both Mega Man X Legacy Collection releases. The latter includes Mega Man X through Mega Man X8 across two physical cartridges, packaged together in a themed slipcase. This is particularly notable since the original North American Nintendo Switch physical release of Mega Man X Legacy Collection included the second collection as a download code rather than a separate cartridge.

Limited Run Games is also offering a Maverick Hunter Edition, which includes both collections and several physical extras. These consist of a hologram canister light featuring Mega Man X, a Metool keychain, and four patches inspired by the series. The contents come packaged in a collector’s box featuring pixel art based on Mega Man X.

The physical releases are part of Limited Run Games’ 10th-anniversary lineup. Pre-orders will run from November 12 through January 3, although pricing and shipping dates have not been announced.
