Capcom released a new gameplay trailer Arjun’s Street Fighter 6 was debuted this past Monday, alongside the arrival of the Arjun Arrives Fighting Pass. The hopeful Bollywood actor turned police officer is attempting to clear his name after being framed for the murder of his former partner. Naturally, that means dispensing his own form of justice inside the ring.
Capcom wasted no time breaking down Arjun’s moves in a detailed Steam blog post, giving players a better look at his unusual collection of projectiles, traps, defensive tools, and attacks built around recoverable damage.
AdvertisementArjun can create a ring of air using Breathing Ring, which remains in place until he follows it with Breathing Shockwave. The follow-up sends the ring flying as a projectile, with the chosen attack button determining its angle. The Overdrive version lasts longer, travels faster, and hits multiple times, giving Arjun another way to control space and pressure opponents.
He also has several moves that resemble abilities used by previous Street Fighter characters. Indomitable Defense, for example, is somewhat reminiscent of Zangief’s Iron Muscle V-Skill from Street Fighter V. Arjun can walk forward or backward while using it, and incoming strikes trigger a counterattack that inflicts recoverable damage. It also works against projectiles, although blocking one this way will not trigger the counterattack.
According to the Street Fighter 6 Steam blog, recoverable damage is central to Arjun’s playstyle. Several of his special moves turn portions of an opponent’s health bar gray, even when they block. That health can gradually recover if the opponent avoids taking another hit, but landing one clean attack allows Arjun to erase all of it at once.
AdvertisementArjun can also create an earthen spire using Divine Pillar, which looks like something Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender would appreciate. For fighting-game fans, it may also bring back memories of C. Viper’s Seismic Hammer. The attack button determines where the pillar appears, while holding the button delays its activation.
If Arjun uses Cruel Shoulder while a pillar is active, he activates Justice Beyond, grabbing the spire and swinging it toward his opponent regardless of which side they are standing on. The pillar can also help Arjun maintain pressure after his Level 2 Super Art, Instant Oblivion, which launches the opponent into the air and sends them flying across the screen.
Yaksha’s Order, Arjun’s Level 3 Super Art, would make legendary Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan proud. This close-range cinematic attack disrupts the opponent’s inner ear, causes them to experience visions, and ends with Arjun delivering a devastating finishing blow.
AdvertisementFor years, Dhalsim stood as India’s only representative among the Street Fighter roster, but that will change when Arjun arrives on October 13. He joins Yasmine as part of the Year 4 roster, with Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa coming next and Bosch from World Tour closing out the character pass.
